Those in the Plains and interior West planning on kicking off the holiday
shopping season by hitting the stores on Friday will luck out. These areas will
enjoy dry and mild weather. Another storm could target the Pacific Northwest
coast, but high pressure should keep areas farther inland dry for most of the
day.

Meanwhile, the Friday morning shopping blitz will get off to a soggy start in
the Northeast. Windswept rain will soak the I-95 corridor from New York City to
Boston, so shoppers in these areas may want to bring along an umbrella to stay
dry on the hike through jammed parking lots.

Farther inland, a shot of cold gusty winds sweeping over the Great Lakes will
accompany the Eastern storm. This will bring a cold and snowy day to areas of
West Virginia, Pennsylvania and interior New York. Cool air will also filter
into the Southeast, so a heavier jacket and gloves could come in handy as
bargain-hunters head out early in the morning.
